Sophia by Shirley
Sophia by Shirley is a custom online store and point-of-sale web app for a Kuala Lumpur atelier of handmade, one-of-a-kind obi-silk handbags. It replaces an ageing, hacked WordPress/WooCommerce site with a clean, secure, hand-owned build — a Next.js storefront over a headless Laravel API, with Stripe (card, FPX, GrabPay), cash-on-delivery and collect-in-store checkout.
Because every piece is one-of-a-kind, the heart of the system is a count-based inventory core that can never double-sell the same bag across the online store, a pop-up booth and the shop — enforced by atomic, row-locked stock transitions and proven under concurrent-sale tests.

What we built
- Next.js storefront (SSG/ISR) with per-piece storytelling, wishlist, and rich SEO / OG / JSON-LD
- Count-based inventory core — atomic reservations + an append-only ledger that never double-sells a one-of-a-kind piece
- Stripe Malaysia checkout (card · FPX · GrabPay) plus cash-on-delivery and collect-in-store, with a signature-verified webhook
- A staff web POS that rings up in-person sales over the same inventory and issues a WhatsApp PDF receipt
- An admin console — products, orders, shipping, customers and first-party analytics with abandoned-cart recovery
- Self-hosted on Docker (Laravel · PostgreSQL · Caddy), money in integer sen, PDPA-compliant
